I’m happy to share this. The left is August 2018 at 178lbs, the right is May 2019 at 128lbs and a lot more in the way of strength, speed, and mobility. I was active my whole life, being involved in ballet and dance from preschool through college, and was always relatively thin and in shape. After college, I tore a tendon in my ankle that wouldn’t heal properly, and ended up having to stop anything that involved jumping or running. Needless to say, the combination of not being able to be as active as I wanted and a deep love of food made me slowly but surely gain weight in a way I had never seen. In October 2017 I finally had surgery to repair my ankle and finished months of physical therapy in May. After I was cleared for full activity, I stumbled upon the 6 week challenge at Primary CrossFit and Yoga, and signed up instantly. I knew I needed to make a drastic change with my diet and exercise plan and that was it. Although I didn’t reach my goal within those 6 weeks, I fell in love with the community and the strength I was gaining so I stuck around! I was at my heaviest when I signed up, and in the 10 weeks since joining I’ve lost over 20 pounds and two pant sizes, with a few more to go. Not only do I feel more like myself again, but I sleep better, have more energy, made great friends, and know I’m stronger with each workout.
