How/when did you get involved in CrossFit?
Friends of mine opened a box in Crown Point Indiana at least 10 years ago.
Do you remember your first workout? How was it?
I dont remember the very first exactly but it was possibly Cindy 5 pullups 10 push ups 15 air squats. I do remember Cindy became our warm up.
How have you grown in that time — health, body, mind, etc.?
I think the biggest thing would be importance of food intake and how it really is key to the workouts. Food can either harm or heal you. Be concious of what you are putting in your machine. My minds a struggle for growth. Lol
Favorite lift and WOD?
I love anything with deadlifts and squats
What about your least favorite?
Anything with burpees especially box jump burpees
What are your fitness/health goals?
I’ve been working out in some capacity my entire adult life. I started crossfit in my late 30s early 40s so maintaining would be my main goal. I am much more concerned with food intake and how food affects the body. I am also trying to gain flexibility through yoga.
Is there a specific diet or nutritional habit that helps you with your goals?
I just try to not to eat junk. I don’t bring “bad” food into the house unless it’s in a very small portion. I have a very bad sweet and carb tooth so I plan to focus on omitting these as much as possible. I am also planning to consume more of a plant based diet and return to juicing.
What motivates you?
I’m truthfully not very motivated. I just show up. My mantra that repeats in my head when I’m doing a WOD is “dont stop”
Do you have any advice for new members?
Yes, just show up! Get your diet on point and put your eating habits in check. But absolutely just show up to class and push yourself.
