CrossFit is a strength and conditioning system built on constantly varied, functional movements executed at high intensity.
Frequently Asked Questions
2. What's the WOD?
he “WOD” is the “workout of the day.” Each day a new WOD is posted to CrossFit.com, and it’s part of a complete program designed to improve strength and conditioning. The CrossFit.com program is characterized by three days of work before one day of rest, though athletes may alter this pattern. The WOD can be scaled (adjusted) to provide a suitable challenge for athletes at any level.
3. What if I can't use the recommended weight or perform the programmed movements?
Use a weight that’s manageable for you or use a percentage of the weight prescribed, and substitute movements you can do. For recommended scaling, follow the coaches lead. All the workouts are scalable.
4. Will I/can I get big doing CrossFit?
If you train the WODs hard, eat right and get lots of sleep, you will definitely gain lean mass and lose fat. And yes, you can build muscle mass with the CrossFit protocol.
The CrossFit protocol is designed to elicit a substantial neuroendocrine wallop and hence packs an anabolic punch that puts on impressive amounts of muscle, though that is not our concern. Strength is.
5. Do i need to be fit or experienced to do CrossFit?
No. One of the most amazing things about CrossFit is that it is universally scalable. You start where you start. Every WOD can be modified. Our goal is to get you fit faster than you would on your own. By modifying your workouts (weights and movements), we can still provide you with a high intensity workout that will keep you safe and put you in a position to be successful in every class that you attend. This does not require a universal fitness level – anyone can do this.
6. Is CrossFit dangerous?
In short, yes CrossFit can be dangerous. But not in the ways you might believe. With inexperienced coaches, shoddy equipment, and the wrong attitude, CrossFit can be very dangerous – but so can riding your bike or driving your car. The experienced and proven CrossFit coaches you’ll find at our facility will ensure that you’re training in the safest most effective and efficient way possible.
