Athlete of the month – September Kyle Hendricks
How/when did you get involved in CrossFit?
October 2016, I moved to uptown and needed a new gym. Always wanted to try crossfit and Primary was 4 blocks away, no excuses.
Do you remember your first workout? How was it?
Fran. My condo is on the 3rd floor and I barely made it up the stairs…
How have you grown in that time — health, body, mind, etc.?
Best shape of my life since HS sports. Fitness is now a priority for me whereas it used to be an afterthought.
Favorite lift and WOD?
Probably the deadlift right now. Surprisingly my favorite WOD has been Murph.
What about your least favorite?
Probably TTB or double unders
What are your fitness/health goals?
Besides getting and staying is shape, Im looking to put on weight without compromising healthy eating.
Is there a specific diet or nutritional habit that helps you with your goals?
I did paleo with the group in January and although I’m not strict anymore it has shaped how I shop and cook at home.
What motivates you?
Competition with myself. I get extremely frustrated if I don’t show continuous improvement.
Do you have any advice for new members?
Stick with it for at least a few months. It gets fun once you’re able to go RX. Also remember the really good athletes have been doing it for years…
What do you hope to achieve in the coming year?
Goal is to be able to do all the 2018 open workouts at the RX weight
