How/when did you get involved in CrossFit?
I think my first class was March 11 2018.
Do you remember your first workout? How was it?
First workout was tough! I remember thinking it was way harder than the intro class.
How have you grown in that time — health, body, mind, etc.?
I’ve definitely grown since then. I’m much more confident in my physical capabilities, as well as how I look. Since starting I’ve lost 15 pounts and 4″ off my waist. I can honestly say this is the fittest I’ve ever been, and certainly the healthiest I’ve been in a long while. I also give a lot more thought to the kinds of foods I’m eating.
Favorite lift and WOD?
Favorite lift would be clean and jerk, and favorite WOD so far has been The Seven.
What about your least favorite?
Least favorite lift would be the overhead squat, and least favorite WOD would be Witten. Not a burpee fan.
What are your fitness/health goals?
To continue to gain strength and eliminate some current aches and pains, and eventually lose a bit more weight.
Is there a specific diet or nutritional habit that helps you with your goals?
The Macros diet worked very well for me. It helped me lose 9 pounds in June without starving myself.
What motivates you?
Initially I wanted to look good for my son’s wedding, now it’s about how far I can push myself with weight and endurance.
Do you have any advice for new members?
Listen to your joints, and don’t over do it – especially if your new to exercise. And don’t be too hard on yourself – you’ll be a vet in no time.
What do you hope to achieve in the coming year?
I’d like to overcome my aversion to box jumps, as well as complete a strict pull up.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Just that crossfit has changed my life, and I don’t think I’d have been able to do it without the help of my crossfit community. I’ve made some pretty great friends, and couldn’t imagine my life without it now.
