How/When did you get involved in CrossFit?
Kyle and I came to our first beginers class in the middle of June 2017. I had heard so many success stories, and with Primary Crossfit and Yoga being essentially across the street from us we had to try it out!
Do you remember your first workout? How was it?
I don’t remember exactly what the first workout I did was, but I do remember being sore for about 5 days after. The next week I came back and was sore for about 4 days after!
How have you grown in that time — health, body, mind, etc?
In health, I feel stronger and healthier. Even without trying, my diet got better because I learned I could perform the WODs better if I was eating clean. I also didn’t want to undo all my hard work at the Box with eating poorly. My self image has changed drastically. I feel more confident in my own skin regardless what the number on the scale says. I think my confidence in my strength and body has been the most impactful change in my life.

What are your fitness/health goals?
I want to carry really heavy stuff, get pull ups and I want to be 80 and still coming to the box.
Is there a specific diet or nutritional habit that helps you with your goals?
After the January Paleo Challenge, I have (for the most part) stuck with eating paleo. I feel so much better days I eat all Paleo so that makes it easy to stick to!
What motivates you?
Days that I may feel to tired to go to the box, knowing that there is a community of friends that I’ll workout with is a huge motivator. Someone will always be cheering you on.
Do you have any advice for new members?
Consistency and stick with it! Change won’t happen over night, but looking back on how far I’ve come in 8 months is amazing! Don’t ever feel judged or “not good enough”, everyone has strengths and weaknesses. All the members and coaches are amazing so never hesitate to reach out to someone if you are struggling!
What do you hope to achieve in the coming year?
Stringing toes to bar and pull ups!!!
