In short: cut out processed foods and grains, load up on veggies, meat, fish, eggs, fruits and nuts. The paleo…

“I knew I needed to make a change and had been looking to get into Crossfit because I was hardly working out at all by going to a normal gym. Saw that Primary opened just a few blocks away and it was a no brainer that I should join. Seeing results definitely keeps me going; that’s always been where I stumble with other workout regimens. I usually don’t see results fast enough and I give up, but I have continuously seen changes since I started at Primary. I’ve noticed changes in the way I feel, the way my clothes fits, the way I look, my weight, and also huge improvements in my performance during the WODs and my strength too. All that, along with meeting some seriously wonderful and friendly people has definitely motivated me to make it to class 4-5 times a week. Like I said above, quite a few things have changed since I joined Primary. I’ve changed my daily routine to make sure I make it to class 4-5 times a week. My diet has begun to change and I’m excited to see what more changes will come when I start eating Paleo. I’ve lost close to 40lbs, my clothes fits way better than it used to, and I’m down two notches on my belt! My long term goal is to Rx every WOD, however, I know it’ll be awhile before I get there. For now, I’d like to get to the point where I need a new belt and am able to do some unassisted pullups and handstand push-ups, and I really wanna master the overheard squat.”
“As a collegiate softball player, team settings have always been more motivating for me. While working out at other gyms, I always stuck to the machines I knew; treadmill, stair master, elliptical (boring). It was so easy to lose sight of my goals from feeling bored and not seeing the results I wanted.
When I learned that Primary Crossfit & Yoga had opened so close to me, I knew I needed to try it. The change I saw in my body was almost instant and I’ve made incredible friends in my area that I love to see everyday at the box. It is so fun to share the success (or compete for it) with each and every one of them!
It’s not about the weight loss or being fit for me, anymore. CrossFit has given me the team atmosphere I thrive in and now consistently pushes me to be a better athlete, even after all these years. I’ve stumbled upon a long-term health journey and I can’t wait to see where CrossFit takes me!
Come join us! You won’t regret it!.”
Before starting CrossFit (left) — March 2016, 155lbs. and 18% body fat. After almost 1 year of CrossFit and eating clean (right) — March 2017, 147lbs and 13% body fat.
CrossFit has become part of my everyday routine. I joined Primary in June or July of 2016 and started with 3 classes per week but I quickly fell in love with it and couldn’t get enough. So I upgraded in September to an unlimited membership and started attending 5 classes per week. I felt stronger almost immediately and discovered a competitive drive I didn’t know I had. Each day I started pushing myself harder to lift more, finish faster, or complete another round. Since then I’ve started doing 4 classes a week with 1-2 open gym workouts mixed in. I have also learned how important nutrition is. I rarely eat anything with added sugar and eat primarily whole, organic foods. This helped me cut my body fat percent way down and has helped with mental clarity and focus too! I love CrossFit so much that I was inspired to go out and get my Level 1 Trainer Certificate and hope to start training part-time at some point. ????
The work isn’t finished my next goal is to increase my strength while maintaining the progress I’ve already made by adding more Olympic Weightlifting sessions to my program. ????????????????

Growing up, I was always playing sports and being competitive. I played soccer and rugby for many years before finding Crossfit. I began Crossfit in 2012 while living in North Dakota.
When I returned to Michigan, I obtained my L1 and started coaching at a friend's box. In 2016 I qualified for Wodapalooza Miami and had the chance to compete. I hope to qualify again in 2018. I enjoyhelping others get fit and feel confident, so I am glad I have the opportunity to coach at Primary Crossfit! Fun Fact: My family dog looks like Chewbacca from Star Wars!
My introduction to CrossFit began in 2010, while I was enlisted in the Marines. When I was discharged in 2012, I pursued getting my CrossFit Level 1 certification. CrossFit led me into Olympic
Weightlifting, where I obtained my USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach Certificate. While much of my focus is on Olympic Weightlifting, I am very familiar with CrossFit’s foundational movements and methodologies, and can easily identify movement errors and correct movement deficiencies. I am currently pursuing my bachelors degree in kinesiology with a concentration in exercise science from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I look forward to being a part of Primary CrossFit’s Team and training with everyone.
Caitlin began practicing yoga in high school after a spinal injury. She immediately noticed the strength and flexibility that allowed her to return to everyday life. Flash forward a few years, and
Caitlin returned to yoga to find relaxation and a peaceful mind during her first year as a middle school math teacher. Upon recognizing the connection between physical and mental strength, she was hooked. She completed her RYT 200-hour Yoga Alliance teacher training and extensions program through CorePower Yoga and incorporated yoga into her day job, holding after school yoga sessions for middle school girls and track runners. Her classes employ vinyasa flow and pranayama breathing to reflect the balance between physical and mental strength.
Ten years ago I was drawn to yoga for the Physical benefits. Yet, through practice and training every day I became aware of the others beneficial aspects of yoga. Each step of my journey
has helped me to developing my own practice, teacher trainings and through Svadyaya (self-study) of it all. It became much more clear that through yoga I was transforming myself into a better person not only in a physical aspect but also positive transformative growth emotionally and mentally. It is because of this transformation why I would love to share this powerful practice with others. Moreover, the beauty of yoga played a big roll while I was an expected mother. It allowed me to connect deeply with my baby, reduced stress, and tension, as well as keeping me in great shape.
Sean has spent his entire life participating in sport and recreation--growing up playing basketball, baseball, and football. He played football in college, during which time he became interested
in Olympic lifting and endurance training. Sean was first introduced to workouts similar to CrossFit in 2010 while serving in the military. Ever since then, he has incorporated the techniques, skills, and mentality of CrossFit into his everyday training regiment. He firmly believes in the positive health benefits of functional fitness and is excited to share and facilitate those benefits to others! He is a full-time graduate student at Adler University seeking his M.A. in Counseling and Sport/Health Psychology.
I first began practicing yoga while training pre-professionally in ballet and modern at the Chicago High School for the Arts. Upon fracturing a metatarsal during a performance, I found I
could enhance my physical therapy through aiming my practice at re-balancing and tending to my weak areas. As I completed my dance training in 2014, my asana and meditation practice carried me to continue learning about wellness, holistic medicine techniques and how the physical aspect of our well being plays a role into the greater whole, being one with the Self.
